TAMMY LYNN CENTER
The Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities was established in 1969 by parents of children with special needs: Billy and Ruth Pierce (whose daughter, the late Tammy Lynn Pierce, is the Center's namesake), Mr. and Mrs. C. Durham Moore, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin B. Tucker. The Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities offers education, residential and family support services to children and adults with special needs. The Center's goal is to provide the individuals it serves the opportunity to maximize their abilities in a loving, nurturing environment. Joy Batchelor-King is a gifted professional photographer with a strong sense of community and an extraordinarily generous heart. In 2001, she volunteered to create the Center's "Faces of Tammy Lynn," a portrait gallery unveiled annually since 2001 at A Toast to the Triangle. Joy's skill and sensitivity brings the warmth, pride, and joy of the families served by the Center to the heart of the community in striking portraits that reveal the purest essence of life, love, family, and the beauty of special lives. |
